The idea was to offer a meaningful, intelligent, friendly, and festive event. The Terre Sauvage Festival aimed to move bodies and minds, to bring together those who share a passion for nature. Those who, with us, month after month, marvel at the beauty of nature. And it was a success.

The program includes photo exhibitions, conferences, concerts, shows, films, workshops for young and old...in July 2027 with the Terre Sauvage Festival, the world in its natural size will come to the whole Clarée Valley.

Briançon under the stars 2026

Briançon under the stars

2026 Edition

Briançon Under the Stars is the summer festival of the town of Briançon, in the Hautes-Alpes region. Every summer since 2021, the Vauban Citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is transformed into an open-air stage. The program blends spectacular musicals performed at the foot of the ramparts of the Embrun Gate, street performances, theater, dance, circus acts, and concerts. The fortifications are enhanced by video mapping and light shows, providing a unique and magical setting for the nighttime performances. The event, free for street performances, is open to all audiences, from families to heritage enthusiasts.

A festival in the heart of the Vauban Citadel

Briançon sous les Étoiles is the major summer cultural event in Briançon, the highest city in France, nestled at 1,326 meters altitude in the Hautes-Alpes . Created in 2021 at the initiative of the municipality led by Mayor Arnaud Murgia , this festival aims to showcase the exceptional heritage of the Vauban Citadel , a UNESCO World Heritage Site, by transforming it into a vast open-air theatre throughout the summer.

The musical, the centerpiece of the festival

Each edition revolves around an original musical comedy created especially for the site by the company "Tous en scène" , under the artistic direction of Jean-Luc Lejeune . The performances take place at the foot of the Porte d'Embrun , at the entrance to the fortified upper town, where the ramparts and the Collegiate Church stand. They serve as a magnificent backdrop, enhanced by video mapping creations and light shows . A troupe of about twenty artists — musicians, dancers, actors, singers and circus artists — brings to life shows blending original music, song, dance, humor and acrobatics.

Among the emblematic creations: Cinderella, Precious but not Ridiculous (2022), mixing Perrault and Molière; Who's Afraid of Bluebeard? (2023); Aladdin and the Magic Lantern (2024), an adaptation of One Thousand and One Nights; and Oh! La Fontaine! The Return... (2025), a reinterpretation of La Fontaine's Fables.

Arty Colors Festival and street performances

Since 2023 , the festival has been part of the Arty Colors Festival , an event combining live concerts , street art , artistic performances , land art and scenography in the streets of Briançon and atSchappe Park. In 2025, this third edition welcomed artists such as Deluxe , FFF , Danakil , Emel , and Julien Granel over three days in August. The cobbled streets, squares, and fortifications of the upper town offer a unique setting for free artistic strolls open to all.
